Personal Statement

Fayrisa Greenwald, MD is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine, where she has a practice in the Physician Organization at Weill Cornell Medical College. Additionally, she works as an Assistant Attending Psychiatrist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital as the sole psychiatrist in the eating disorders clinic, as well as a psychiatrist at the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain. She has expertise in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry, and has experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Greenwald believes that it is essential to understand the entire person in order to provide the most comprehensive treatment for her clients, and works with clients to help them to achieve their goals by utilizing psychotherapy, medication, or a combination when indicated. 

Biographical Info

Dr. Fayrisa Greenwald has expertise in depression, anxiety, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, eating disorders, OCD, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, and working with families to improve the lives of individuals with mental health conditions. She has a practice in which she sees clients through the Well Cornell Physician Organization. She also works at the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain and is the sole psychiatrist in the Eating Disorders Clinic in the Outpatient Department at Weill Cornell. She formerly worked for 2 years on the inpatient eating disorders unit (2 South) at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health Center. She is double-boarded in child and adolescent psychiatry and in adult psychiatry, as a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. Dr. Greenwald entered a combined undergraduate and medical program, the prestigious Early Notification of Guaranteed Admission for Graduate Education, at Vanderbilt University. She graduated from Vanderbilt University’s College of Arts and Science, summa cum laude and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She completed medical school at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where she realized her passion of caring for individuals of al ages with mental health conditions. Dr. Greenwald completed adult psychiatry residency training at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine, and continued there for her fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry, where she served as a chief fellow. Additionally, she completed a fellowship in psychoanalysis from the Institute of Psychoanalytic Education/Psychoanalytic Association of New York. Dr. Greenwald has been nationally recognized by multiple psychiatric organizations. She has served on the Child PRITE (Psychiatry Resident-In-Training-Examination) Editorial Board of the premier American College of Psychiatrists, and participated in writing the sole exam that is taken nationwide by child and adolescent psychiatry residents. She educated other psychiatrists about genetic testing at the American Psychiatric Association.
